- We were staying in Bozeman for the Fourth of July weekend when the aurora alert came through, so we drove about 15 miles north to a dirt road. There were only a few hours of real dark, and about an hour of northern lights. It was something to watch.
Worked out from the capture time, not the place: the moon’s phase is the same everywhere on Earth at a given moment.
